Boot Camp and Monday’s Always Get me UP!

I don’t know about you…

But usually Mondays get most people down.

Well, that’s where things are a bit different around Portland Boot Camp.

We take pride in realizing that exercise has the power to brighten a sour mood.

Look, here’s what people refuse to accept or just don’t know…

Exercise actually makes you happy.  Working out hard makes you smile.  Doing the difficult makes the rest of life easier.

We choose to start the week of right.

With a healthy dose of good medicine.

Right?

Thanks for daring to be great.

And thanks for a great Monday, gang.

D

The obstacle courses are mad crazy fun. I was talking to another camper on the way out of class Monday who was asking about accountability. “Who are we accountable to when D gives us the course tasks i.e. — 50 jump ropes, 20 squat press, 10 burpees…” I was like hullo?-It’s all about us in this camp…we are ONLY ACCOUNTABLE TO OURSELVES and it’s a gift to be true and give it your all. We are here because we want change, right? These courses manifest a mind shift for me everytime. 150% baby – in it to win it!!! Thanks D. It was an awesome workout.

Thanks, Sandy. Good points. Anyone who “cheats” when I’m looking away for a moment is only cheating themselves from the benefits. True. But it all evens out, because I’m not looking away for long. And I see you out there giving it your all!

I am NOT a morning person, and frankly usually I HATE exercise classes, and a few months ago I would never have DREAMED that I would be getting up in the early ( for me) A.M. to do jumping jacks, or push-ups, etc! I am still AMAZED that I am doing this, and I actually ENJOY it. I guess WEIRD things just happen, sometimes.

Jen, with proper exercise, the body builds up so fast it seems almost like magic. Plus, the mind and body are connected–inextricably linked. The big game is getting yourself moving and building momentum. So congratulations!

Hey! So between Monday and last Friday I have had the best reminders of why I am part of this group! Working out on my own I have never pushed myself so hard and tested my own limits. I loved the obstacle course by the way. Not only did I feel super energized and great about myself afterward, I also always feel a little personally proud because I got out of bed, had such an intense workout and gave it my all. Great stuff!

Thanks, Candice. Those little obstacle courses break up the workout into sections so you have a series of challenges rather than traditional sets and reps. I think you are right about the group too…it’s tough to push yourself into a new body on your own. It can be done for sure, but the boot camp crew makes it a lot easier! Glad you were energized… you are looking super fit. And will look amazing for your wedding. Congratulations!

I felt so good today!! I always feels so much stronger (both mentally and physically) after a great Boot Camp workout. I also think it clears my mind and enables me to either have a great day with my kids or, if it is an office day, to tackle work stuff too. Plus, after hard workout, I’m often tired in the afternoon and it is a great excuse to cuddle up with my kids for a little snooze. I did just that this afternoon with my daughter. We both loved it!

Thank you, Daniel. I don’t feel “YUCKY” any more.

So glad you don’t feel yucky, Andrea. I know what you mean about feeling stronger and more ready to handle what life can dish out. Thanks a million!

Everyday I feel challenged at boot camp, and I NEVER get bored which is great for me! I may not be the thinnest I’ve ever been, but I feel the strongest and the best about myself I’ve ever been. I wish they had boot camp, and Daniel in Alaska!

There’s no boot camp in Alaska!? Weird. Well, you deserve all the strength you have for the hard work you have done. And really, working out is all about feeling great about yourself and life. Nice, Michele.

It’s so easy to pull the cover over your head and ignore the alarm at o dark thirty after a full weekend. But knowing after an hour of Boot Camp with Daniel who peppers you with humor and motivation and makes you WANT to try harder, why not start a Monday like this? For one who has always been active, Daniel has shown me how to work smarter and harder and see results (I’d say faster but it’s working smarter that make the results appear). I can easily workout for an hour by myself and be unproductive, staring at the ceiling wondering when that roll is going to come off my waistline. But Daniel, his winning formula and the group of powerful women surrounding you, provide the push to go the extra step and it’s working for me!

THANKS, TAM! It IS so easy to ignore an alarm. But it’s your willingness to get up anyway which has brought you the goods. I’m just a decent “cheerleader” with a few fitness tricks under my belt… it was YOU who had to keep showing up with the desire to achieve. Of course, we all know that about you. If there ever was an achiever, it’s you. Not only personally, but with all you do for cancer research. Keep rockin it, Tam.

I consider bootcamp as my personal bubblewrap of the day, I have my protective coat on so things just bounce right off! If I get poked, there is still LOTS of bubbles to keep me cooooolll!
I think my business associates like me going to bootcamp as much as I do! Daniel you are an amazing person to get us all so motivated and keep us working harder and moving forward. I am THE FITTEST I’ve ever been in my life. My ability to tolerate EVERYTHING has improved immensly, from mental stress (anxiety and fear) to physical discomfort (pain) I am better equipped to handle it all…….Thank you D!

Well, you have really worked hard for your amazing fitness level, Deb. It has been my pleasure to help. And I know just what you mean about the bubble-wrap. Being fit gives you a layer of impenetrability… AND helps you keep your cool. Thanks!

Great day today, as always! You asked me when I started, “what is going to happen when you get addicted?” I giggled, knowing that was impossible. Thanks for making the impossible happen. I can’t wait for tomorrow!

What I love about this class is of course Daneil and the other women. I have done things I never thought I could. I have reached my goals in losing body fat. This class is some much better then the two gyms I belong too. We do different things every class and it is always a challenge. I leave feeling I can’t wait until tomarrow……why not seven days a week????
This is my third month and counting. :)

We are lucky because so many great ladies are part of lass. The only reason not seven days a week is we need a couple days to rest and play!

Today was amazing! I almost skipped class due to a crying child but told myself I need to do this – FOR ME! I feel great & just got done showing my husband what we did today. I think it made him tired just listening to me. One of the campers said “this is hard” – your response – “you didn’t sign up for easy…the home gym is easy.” That got me through the workout today…thank you Daniel for all you do.

Maria, Maria! So glad you didn’t skip because you really truly worked hard and rocked it out there. And I remember saying that… it’s true… the easiest would be to sit on the couch, eh?
